Date: Week 38 to week 44 - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, all day
Time: 09:30 - 12:00 - 13:30 - 17:00
Raum:        SQ 502 (first week only)

This course will address the complexities of designing mobile technology and related experiences in urban context. Locative media and context-aware computing will be explored in a hands-on studio setting and tested on the streets of Zurich.

During the course the students will:

  • conceptualise and test mobile applications such as wearables, location-based services, mobile devices and context-aware products.
  • develop context-aware technology that suits such applications. For example, students may capture the location of the user, the intensity and changes of sound and light in the context, or user’s own personal data such as heartbeat or galvanic skin response.
  • design sensory experience by the means of non-visual feedback which is suited to movement based interactions: auditory, haptic, temperature, vibration and other.
  • explore social interactions and personal experience that emerge in the use of their products.

Class Activities

Design in Context, Studio work, Lectures, Presentations, Company Visits

Important Dates

Each week Project Milestones will be presented and demonstrated in the class on Thursday afternoon. We encourage you to document your work online during the project and show the Project Milestones directly from your website.
